5 Things To Look For In A PC Gaming Build

Nowadays, playing video games is easy to do; you can play nearly any game on any device. But nothing beats a PC that is built for gaming. This is especially true for triple-A titles that provide a premium gaming experience.

Take Red Dead Redemption 2, it takes about 150GB to download and it requires specific system requirements to be able to run smoothly, including a 12 GB RAM and at least an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB graphics card.

Running such high-quality games on any ordinary PC will not show off their full potential. If you are an aspiring streamer, you would also need a strong PC setup to support your gaming, Discord streams, and other applications.

As we mentioned in a previous blog post about RTC connections on Discord, the application needs not just a stable internet connection, but also a PC that can run smoothly without any disturbance. So if you are looking to build a PC that will give you the best gaming experience – you should consider our tips on the five things you should look for in a PC gaming build.

1. Get a Huge Storage Space

Playing multiple high-quality games requires huge storage space. Most gamers go for 1TB storage to make sure that they have ample space. You should also consider if you favor solid-state drives (SSD) or hard disk drives (HDDs).

SSDs are usually chosen for their speed and durability. It offers the same storage options as an HDD while lasting much longer. This is because with no moving parts it is not as easily damaged as an HDD.

2. Check the Processing Power

A good processor will allow you to run your games smoothly. Usually, an Intel processor of i5 and up is a good start, but you might want to opt for i7-i9 or the Ryzen series processors to take your gaming to the next level, especially for triple-A games.

A good gaming PC will have just the right amount of processing power without being overkill. The MSI Aegis is a great example of one that is just above entry-level, offering reliable speeds and FPS numbers. It uses an i7-12700K and 16GB of RAM, making it an affordable yet dependable inspiration build.

3. Get a Powerful GPU

Your Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) will help your game perform with the best resolutions and graphics. Some games are also GPU intensive – so you might want to invest in a powerful one if you are fond of games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

A powerful GPU can easily be expensive, but you don’t have to break the bank to get a good one. One of the best in the market is the RTX 30 series which is used in top gaming laptops. The Nvidia GTX 1060 is also a powerful GPU that can help you play in 4K at higher frame rates.

4. Consider Your RAM Capacity

Games can exhaust your RAM if you don’t look for one with higher storage capacity and this can affect how your game runs.

To complement your processing power, at least a 16GB RAM kit is the best for your gaming PC. However, some choose to install at least a 32GB RAM kit to optimize their PC’s performance. It is also important to note that you don’t need to splurge in this area, especially with good low-latency RAM kits being widely available.

5. Have a Great Case

Even though this doesn’t necessarily affect your gaming directly, it does tie your gaming PC look together. Cases can be as simple or as futuristic as you want them to be. In this, let your personality shine and decorate it to match your gaming aesthetic.

An NZXT H510 is a good-tempered glass case option that comes in white or black. If you are going for a more custom look (or if you need more space), you might want to consider smaller cases. Just make sure to consider proper ventilation and the size of the hardware you will use.

If you are taking the plunge and building your own gaming PC we hope the above tips help.
